IPL 2024: RCB lost by one run, Kolkata won on the last ball in a thrilling IPL match

In a thrilling match of IPL 2024, RCB had to face defeat by one run at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders. This was RCB’s sixth consecutive defeat.

In this match, RCB had to score 21 runs in the last over to win. Karn Sharma (20) hit three sixes in that over of Mitchell Starc. While chasing KKR’s target of 223 runs, Virat Kohli gave a fast start. Kohli was controversially declared out after scoring 18 runs off 7 balls. After this, captain Faf Duplessis was also out after scoring 7 runs. However, Will Jacques 55 and Rajat Patidar scored 52 runs to bring the team back the match.

On the basis of excellent innings by Shreyas Iyer (50) and Phil Salt (48), Kolkata Knight Riders set a target of 223 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 36th match of IPL 2024 on Sunday. KKR scored 222 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs.

Iyer scored a half century

After this, Venkatesh Iyer (16) and captain Shreyas Iyer (50) took the team close to 100 runs. Green gave the fourth blow to KKR by getting Venkatesh caught by Lomror at deep square leg. After this Rinku Singh (24) hit excellent shots, but Loki Ferguson ended his innings. Yash Dayal took an easy catch at short fine leg of Rinku Singh.

Shreyas Iyer also returned to the pavilion after completing his half-century, getting caught by Du Plessis off the ball of Cameron Green. Then Andre Russell remained unbeaten by scoring 27* and Ramandeep Singh 24* and took the team to a huge score. Yash Dayal and Cameron Green took two wickets each for RCB. Mohammad Siraj got one wicket.
