IPL 2024 Lowest Total: Gujarat titans

Gujarat Titans (GT) have recorded their lowest-ever score in IPL history as the Delhi Capitals shot them out for a paltry 89 in the 2024 edition of the IPL in Ahmedabad. Fans at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium were in for a shocker with the Gujarat Titans, one of the most consistent teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since their debut in 2022, with the Delhi Capitals bowling them out for a paltry 89 on Wednesday. With the Indian Premier League 2024 season throwing up huge scores on every other night, Wednesday was somewhat of an aberration when Gujarat Titans posted a subpar 89 against the Delhi Capitals.

Pacer Mukesh Kumar led the way with a haul of while fellow speedster Ishant Sharma and part-time off-spinner Tristan Stubbs grabbed two wickets each as Gujarat titans were bundled out for their lowest total in the IPL after DC skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and invited the hosts to bat.

Their total of 89, in fact, is the only time Gujarat titans have failed to go past the century mark since they debuted alongside Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 edition.

Tristan Stubbs got a couple of wickets with the help of Rishabh Pant behind the stumps and Mukesh Kumar finished it off to end up with three wickets as Delhi maintained the chokehold over the Titans throughout the innings and unsurprisingly this was their best bowling effort in IPL history. This is the lowest total by any team against the Delhi team in IPL as the Titans broke Mumbai Indians’ record, who were bowled out by the then Daredevils side in 2012.

Lowest score for Gujarat titans in IPL

89 vs Delhi Capitals (Ahmedabad, 2024)

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant had a terrific night with the gloves behind the stumps. Pant affected a couple of stumpings in the same over bowled by Tristan Stubbs, who got his maiden wicket in IPL and took a couple of catches as well. Four dismissals helped Pant rise on the list of wicketkeepers with the most dismissals in the tournament. Pant has now the joint-fourth highest dismissals for a wicketkeeper, as he equalled Robin Uthappa.

This was the Gujarat’s lowest ever total in IPL history with the batters throwing away their wickets at regular intervals as an on-point Delhi tightened the screws around them.Abhinav Manohar had to depart next as Gujarat went down to 47/5 in the first 8 overs. Rahul Tewatia and Shahrukh Khan would soon follow suit with 10 and 0. Rashid Khan would be the highest scorer with 31 runs as Gujarat titans were bundled out for 89.
